Daniel Radcliffe Has Written A Script And Reveals He’s Open To Trying To Direct

Radcliffe’s parents once tried to discourage his acting dream, but it clearly didn’t have the desired effect. Thanks to his acting career, he was able to work with accomplished directors. This list includes Alfonso Cuarón, to whom he credits taking Harry Potter in a darker, more mature direction that shaped the rest of the franchise.

Radcliffe has dozens of acting credits on his resume and even two producing credits, but he plans to change that. According to Empire, Radcliffe took the advice of others and wrote a script that he hopes to make it to the screen.

“People always say, ‘Write down what you know.’ I had a very incomprehensible life, so I don’t want to write this,” he said. “But I found a way to write something that’s kind of related to the film industry, about it.”

Radcliffe needs to carve out time in his schedule to get his turn in the director‘s chair, but he said he doesn’t want to star in his own film for two specific reasons.

So we know that Radcliffe has written a screenplay, is somehow connected to the movie industry, and is planning to direct the film.

We also know that Radcliffe has absolutely no intention of starring in his movie, and he has two reasons for that line of thinking, per Empire:

“I would just like to direct, for two reasons – partly because I’ve never done it before, and I wouldn’t want to think about those two things at the same time. But more concretely, because when you direct a film, you have to watch this movie a thousand times after editing, and no part of me wants to look at my face so much. I’m going to skip that.

Clint Eastwood, Ben Affleck and Woody Allen are finding ways to act in their movies while directing. Radcliffe doesn’t like watching himself on screen, so he doesn’t intend to be like them and play dual roles when he directs his film.

Radcliffe stars in biopic ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,’ for which Yankovic wrote the screenplay

Before Radcliffe even thinks of putting a plan together or screaming while making his movie, he’ll first help get someone else’s script to the screen.

He plays the main character in Bizarre: the story of Al Yankovic, the biopic of the famous parody musician. Yankovic wrote the film’s screenplay and serves as producer, but he let Eric Appel (who co-wrote the screenplay) direct.

Evan Rachel Wood (as Madonna), Julianne Nicholson (Mary Yankovic) and Rainn Wilson (Dr Demento) star alongside Radcliffe’s Weird Al in Weirdwhich is due out later in 2022.
