Born in Chicago, Karen Foster studied violin at Chicago Musical College and has an orchestral career spanning half a dozen symphonies, including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and performances on CBC Radio. She was also active as a violin and viola chamber musician, and performed with her late husband, clarinetist Wes Foster, at UBC and Raven’s Cry Theatre.

Val Rutter was born and educated in Birmingham, England. She made her London debut at St. Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square, before launching a career marked by festivals, recitals and broadcasts. A CD by Rutter and her twin sister Julie was nominated for Best Classical Album at the West Coast Music Awards.

The KaraVal duo will present a musical offering of classic, Celtic favorites and movie soundtracks on Saturday, September 10 at 2:30 p.m.

The concert takes place at the Living Faith Lutheran Church on Whitaker Road and Highway 101 in Davis Bay. Tickets are $25 and are available at Strait Music in Sechelt and One Flower, One Leaf in Gibsons.
