Richard Rawson has been busy since N-Dubz disbanded 11 years ago (yes, that’s been 11 years).

The rapper, better known by the stage name Fazer, has a solid career behind the scenes as both a music producer and a solo artist.

Fazer’s latest single, Tears, was released in February to very positive reception; the emotional track pays tribute to the lives lost in recent years, both to Covid-19 and to the murders on the streets of London.

But while his solo career is going well, the musician is now turning to something completely different.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the Give It Away musician revealed he plans to switch careers to produce film soundtracks – and he’s got a big plan of it.

“I really want to start looking into making movie soundtracks,” he admitted.

“I feel like I could do the next Avatar soundtrack!”

He spoke enthusiastically about his “next venture” and revealed that the goal was to be “the next Hans Zimmer”.

The rapper was inspired by musician and producer Labrinth, who won acclaim for his creation of the soundtrack for the critically acclaimed Euphoria series.

And Fazer thought, “I could just as easily do stuff like that in my sleep.

“So yeah, I thought that would be the next step, for me, the next chapter for Fazer.”

Fazer has produced all of N-Dubz and his own music, collaborated with Jessie J and Rita Ora, and arranged the very first Urban Classic BBC Proms, and says he understands music from all genres, not just those he does it himself.

“I understand how to create emotions through music,” the father-of-one said, revealing he was eager to take a step into orchestral music.

‘Even with Tears, I made sure it had a sort of emotional feel to it, with minor chords… mostly sad chords.

“If you use these chords it brings out emotions, if you use happy chords it brings out different emotions… If you were watching a movie without music it would be so weird.”

Fans will have to be patient before they hear the I Swear rapper’s first step towards becoming the next Hans Zimmer, as he admits his diary is “crazy right now” thanks to juggling a busy career and fatherhood.

But he has his eye on a schedule in the “next six months” – which isn’t that long to wait.

“As far as running a production company, my solo career as an artist, everything that goes behind it,” things are just one bit crazy at the minute.

“I have a full household and a house, I have a nine year old daughter and my wife who I have been with for 10 years…”

“So the next six months will be busy, but after that I’ll start to consider tackling the movie side.”

Fazer’s plans are really exciting, but that means those hoping for an N-Dubz reunion will have to put that dream aside for now.

Rumors began circulating in early 2022 that the trio planned to make new music, having previously stated that they would get back together when the time came.

But unless Dappy and Tulisa are planning to do the vocals on the Avatar 2 soundtrack, it seems like it’s just false hope. Ouch.

Fazer’s new single, Tears, is out now.
