Greta Gerwig Pledges to Write Screenplay for Upcoming Live-Action Movie Based on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs










Greta Gerwig has signed on to write the screenplay for an upcoming live action Snow White movie.

The news of the 38-year-old filmmaker was originally reported by The disinitiate , who noted that physical production of the project is expected to begin next year.

The feature film will be based on the classic animated feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, although it is currently not known whether the next film will be a remake.

The original feature film was based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, which drew on stories from various cultures.

The project was the first traditional animated feature film to ever be released to the public.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs debuted in 1937 and was well received by critics and audiences at the time.

The film went on to receive the Oscar for Best Original Music at the Academy Awards the following year.

The development of the new feature was initially made known to the public by Hollywood journalist in 2016, when it was announced that Disney would take on the project.

At the time, Erin Cressida Wilson was in talks to write the script for the next film.

Marc Webb would later have been in negotiations to direct the feature film, and he ultimately signed on as a director.

According to Deadline, images of the artist in the upcoming West Side Story film impressed Disney executives to the point that she was chosen for the film.

Webb also made a statement to the media where he said the actress was the perfect fit for the title role.

“Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will be integral to rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairy tale, ”he said.

It was also reported by Deadline that Gal Gadot was in final talks to portray the Evil Queen in the upcoming film earlier this month.

The outlet pointed out that executives at Disney sought out the Red Notice star for the role of the film’s villain.

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who have worked on projects such as La La Land and Dear Evan Hansen, are set to write new songs for the film.

Vogue stressed that musical rehearsals are expected to begin early next year, and filming is expected to begin in March.

Snow White currently does not have a release date scheduled.
