It’s been almost two years since Sunny Kaushal’s last film project. He was last seen opening theaters in 2020 with Bhangra Paa Le, his debut as a lead actor. After that, he was seen in the web series, The Forgotten Army by Kabir Khan, later in the same month. But then the pandemic happened and derailed all plans and announcements.
Sunny’s next film was supposed to be Shiddat opposite Radhika Madan. However, he was delayed due to Covid. The film, also starring Mohit Raina and Diana Penty, is now set to hit live on OTT on October 1, ending Sunny’s long hiatus from the screen.
But the actor didn’t waste all that time trying another avenue. Sunny was seen in three music videos during this interval. Her first music video was Taaron ke Shehar, with Neha Kakkar. Then he was seen in Dil Lauta Do and recently he was seen in the video Ishq Mein with Sahher Bambba.
Ask Sunny how this experience helped him improve his acting skills, and he shares, “It’s a different kind of film school. In a movie, there is a character arc and you play based on that. Your character has a trip. Here the song has a concept journey. The songs I’ve done so far have had a story: a beginning, a middle and an end. Doing what you would do in two hours, in just five minutes, requires a lot of emotional leaps. It is a whole different art to be able to understand. I remember when I made my first music video, Taaron Ke Shehar, I didn’t understand anything at all. I was so surprised and shocked at the technical jargon that comes to mind, but now I have settled down to it.
Besides Shiddat, Sunny also finished Hurdang with Nushrratt Bharuccha and Vijay Varma. He would also star alongside Yami Gautam in Chhor Nikal Ke Bhaaga, alongside Janhvi Kapoor in Milli, and then he would also have Nakhrewali with Aanand L Rai.
